More Information: In response to the use of the phrase “overnight success” in reference to his first book, The Friends of Eddie Coyle, Higgins wrote, “that was one hell of a damned long night, lasting seventeen years.”

The novel was made into a 1973 film of the same title directed by Peter Yates and starring Robert Mitchum and Peter Boyle.
